Wait until the outside of the soap dissolves into a mush.

Not the fitting leaking it s a crack in the welding of the pipe.
Someone had to drain this fuel tank once before.
The leak started when i tried to remove the plug to drain the fuel and by doing so somewhere along the welded area crack.
Take precaution as fuel is going to spill out at full force as soon as the drain plug is fully removed.
The best and easiest way to drain a fuel tank without getting dirty or messy in simple easy steps.
While the real solution is to replace the fuel tank that is not always feasible in the short term.
Drain the fuel from the tank.
If the tank is leaking on the bottom you can even rub soap on the leaks and they will seal up.
Repairing a fuel tank can get difficult especially when the it is full of fuel.

I plan to drain the fuel and remove the drain plug and wrap threads with teflon tape and insert and tighten to see if this will stop the fuel leak from the threads.
Allow the fuel to drain until the tank is empty.

To drain the gas tank of your car start by placing a large pan under the drainage plug or the small bolt screwed directly into the gas tank.
Once the drain plug has been loosened remove it completely by hand.
